Com us hem dit abans, anirem passa a passa. Comencem.

Solo hemos usado cuatro telas diferentes.

TUTORIAL PATCHWORK: THE JAPANESE INSPIRATION OF LES ANTÒNIES.

The block that Les Antònies are presenting this week has an undoubted japanese inspiration. The star that forms the block, the motives and the colours of the fabrics remind us of the Japan in the spring. We are looking forward to serenity and happiness.

The difficulty of this block is to follow the steps precisely: don't cut all the cuts at once, we'll do it as we go along; once you have the procedure, is as easy as the other.
We have only used four different fabrics. As we have said before, we will be going step by step. We begin. We cut, in principle, two squares of lilac, a square black print and a cream square of 12X12cm. We put together the squares: lilac + black print; lilac + cream (1). Take one of the couples: let's face tissues and, on the reverse of the lilac, draw a diagonal with pencil (2); it will be the guide to the seams that we sew, leaving half a cm to each side (3). Cut to the central line (4); when we opened we have two squares with triangle; we repeat it with the other couple (5).
We go to the second phase. We need to cut two squares of black print and two cream squares of 11X11cm. We put it together, so: stamped black + lilac/cream triangle; cream + lilac/black print triangle (6). Face couples; drawings with pencil another diagonal, so you make a drawing of  a cross with the diagonal triangles (7); in the schema we have drawn on triangles, but you will be more comfortable to sew if you do in the other cuttings, but ever, try it in the right direction. Sew as we have done it before (8), cut to the line drawn (9) and open. Once we have done with all couples we are four squares of each (10). We reserve it and start the next phase.
Now let's make the tips of our block and the centre. We cut two squares of lilac, a square black print and a cream square of 11X11cm; also cut, by the middle of the block, a purple square of 10x10cm, reserve it for later (11). Put together as in point (1) and repeat (2, 3 and 4). We already have all the pieces to assemble the block.
Assemble as in the drawing (12); you will realize that we left over four squares with three triangles: we had to do it that way because we needed that went in different directions. The squares that we've got, we can arrange to make another block. Now you can sew, as always do: front row, second row, third row and stitch them together. It’s already finished (13).
You enjoyed this blog? Maybe it takes more work than others, but we find that it is very nice. We are very satisfied with the result.
